NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGE:
The first three days of the new school year, August 27, 28 and 31 Calgary Transit will be offering a grace period on bus fares.  All students will be able to ride the 800 buses to and from Saint Francis for free

Information for Parents regarding H1N1 Influenza (commonly known as the Human Swine influenza)

Parents may be concerned by recent news reports regarding an outbreak of influenza, known commonly as swine flu, originating in Mexico.  As we would with any potential health concern, Calgary Catholic School District will continue to monitor the situation with consultation from Alberta Health Services.  Read more at the district website, www.cssd.ab.ca

 CCSD addresses the spread of disease in the Infection Control section of our Occupational Health & Safety manual and actively consults with appropriate officials should any concerns arise.

It is important to note that incidents of H1N1 flu have not been found in Alberta. This does provide an opportunity for parents to review hygiene practices with your children that are useful in preventing the spread of the influenza virus and other infectious illnesses:

• Wash hands frequently with soap and water.

• Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth after touching door handles and other surfaces that may harbour influenza and other viruses.

• Those with flu-like symptoms can help prevent the spread of illness by not touching surfaces directly, washing their hands frequently, especially after coughing, sneezing or blowing their nose.

• Avoid public places when ill.

• Cough or sneeze into your sleeve rather than your hand.
